Secondary interest

"A conflict of interest is a set of circumstances that creates a risk that professional judgement or actions regarding a primary interest will be unduly influenced by a secondary interest"

Some views of Sheffield North Sheffield

One of the Greenest Cities in Europe, I wanted to share some pictures of my living environment and the inspiration for some of my 'As the Crow flies' Series. The richness in textures is superb.

Monotypes, drawing with ink..

To be able to use printing techniques and mediums to create a one off piece with expressive marks is really very appealing to me. I can see that this process will undoubtedly appear in future 'editions' or series as I don't require the need for producing exact copies of the same image.

New work, carborundum and monoprinting

This week has been full of print time. The possibilities that are available through the method of monoprinting are seemingly endless, layering and deleting elements at a simple wipe of the plate. I have addded to the still life series and working on 'Eternal Garden' series of monoprints that focuses on the renewal quality of the natural world.
I have been reading more on William Scott and his work.

A new still life series emerges.

I have been working hard all week to produce the first edition in my new still life series. The first edition is an original print created from a collagraph and a dry point plate. Its titled 'Blue vase' and will be available as an edition of 20.

I love the sunset atmosphere and the idea that only the vase is blue, the table and cup is cast in shadow.

I also stumbled upon a brilliant blog by artist Theresa Easton that covers the subject of artists book and shes based in the UK. Enjoy!

Making a Collagraph - The 'House on the Crags'

Im so pleased to be able to show you some photos of my very first edition that I have been really busy creating this past couple of weeks. I have used a palette consisting of cadmium yellow and cobalt blue, mixing them to create the greens and reducing them with the transparent ink for lighter tones. The print was created from 2 plates that were inked and pressed separately.

Inspired by our local house on the crags:

Inking the plate and the ink palette.

A completed print. Im very pleased with the outcome and how the sky and fields flow into a point together towards the left side as they disappear into the distance.
